Description

This flint tool type appears in the Upper Palaeolithic and continued through to the Mesolithic. Primarily an engraving tool, this was the tool that would have been used to produce the beautiful works of art carved on Mammoth tusk ivory, antler and some of the softer carveable stone types. They were also used for the ‘grove and splinter’ method of removing spalls or spatula from bone and antler for the production of harpoon points, fishing hooks and needles.

You can order this tool complete with a haft using wood, natural fibre and resin glue – please add “Tool haft” to your order.
