Description

This is one of the calling cards of the Bronze Age ‘Beaker People’. This type of flint arrowhead appeared very suddenly along with the beaker burial tradition and the introduction of metal working to the British Isles. The barbs were to prevent the arrow being removed by the animal as it bolted. If however the arrow was removed a vicious wound would ensure the hunters did not have far to track the animal before reaping their rewards.
